What is the Prix d’Excellence du Concours Général Agricole de Paris ?
Le Prix d’Excellence du Concours Général Agricole de Paris (or the General Agricultural Competition of Paris), is a competition organized by the French Minister of Agriculture. This prestigious prize, created in 2000, certifies consistency in excellence in a specific category, as the winner must have distinguished himself continuously over the previous years’ competitions. The Minister of Agriculture also honors those who participate in the renown of French culinary heritage; highlighting their talent for innovation while helping to perpetuate a unique artisanal know-how and to preserve a terroir. The Prix d’Excellence recognizes those who perform their trade with passion.
The line of Chateau Arton Armagnacs was awarded the Prix d’Excellence in 2017 in the category “Eau de Vie”. It is the first time that the Prix d’Excellence has been awarded to an Armagnac.
